Police in Oklahoma City have arrested a man suspected of carrying out a shooting that injured a teenager following Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

On Wednesday, OKCPD announced they identified 20-year-old Kaziya Penn as the suspect after a handgun was found during a June 24 traffic stop.

He was initially charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm. Ballistic testing later confirmed the gun matched the one used in the June 22 shooting.

The incident took place around 10:35 PM at Scissortail Park, just blocks from Paycom Center, where fans were celebrating the Thunder’s first NBA title.

Police say an altercation broke out during the celebrations, leading to gunfire. A juvenile male was hit but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the investigation, Penn was arrested Monday and charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Police say he confessed to the shooting. He is currently in custody.
