The Detroit Pistons have released forward Ron Harper Jr., who was on a two-way contract, per the NBA’s official transaction log (via Michael Scotto of HoopsHype).
Harper, undrafted out of Rutgers in 2022, previously spent time on two-way deals with the Toronto Raptors before being waived in December 2023.
After a brief training camp stint with the Celtics, he signed with the Pistons in January but appeared in only one NBA game.
The 25-year-old 6’6″ wing spent most of last season in the G League, averaging 16.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 0.9 steals across 37 games with the Motor City Cruise and Maine Celtics.
He shot an impressive 38.6% from three on 8.2 attempts per game.
Detroit currently has a two-way qualifying offer out to Daniss Jenkins and is reportedly signing Colby Jones to a two-way contract. If Jenkins accepts, the Pistons’ two-way slots will be full.
Harper remains eligible for another two-way contract, as he has fewer than four years of NBA experience.
He is the son of former NBA guard Ron Harper and the older brother of Dylan Harper, the No. 2 overall pick in last month’s draft by the San Antonio Spurs.
