The Minnesota Timberwolves have a crucial game on Sunday afternoon, with their playoff hopes on the line.
A win is essential for the Wolves to avoid the Play-In Tournament, but they will have to secure that victory without star player Anthony Edwards.
On Friday, Edwards picked up his 18th technical foul of the season, which triggers a suspension for Sunday’s regular season finale.
Players receive a one-game suspension after their 16th technical foul, with an additional suspension for every technical foul that follows.
This isn’t the first time Edwards has been sidelined due to technical fouls – he missed the Timberwolves’ loss to the Utah Jazz at the end of February after his 16th technical.
Ironically, Minnesota will face Utah again on Sunday, this time at home.
Once the playoffs begin, technical foul counts are reset, so if the Timberwolves qualify for the postseason, Edwards won’t face any further suspensions.
However, for now, the team must find a way to win without him in this critical game.
