The Sacramento Kings secured a crucial victory on the road in Houston on Saturday night, despite the early loss of their starting center, Domantas Sabonis, reports Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee.
Just over a minute into the game, Sabonis appeared to suffer an injury, grabbing his left hamstring while running down the court. Acting head coach Doug Christie quickly called a timeout, and Sabonis made his way to the locker room for further evaluation.
The team later announced that he would not return to the game, and Christie expressed uncertainty regarding how long the star big man might be sidelined.
“We’ll see in the coming days,” Christie told reporters. “Probably tomorrow or the next day we’ll have an idea, but everyone’s just pulling for him. Stepping in and, wow, we’re talking about Domantas Sabonis, who covers the stat sheet in a way that is difficult to do.
“A lot of guys stepped in and weren’t trying to do too much. They were just trying to do what they do and that adds up to everyone pulling the rope in the same direction.”
