Stephen Curry recently had a conversation with Kevin Durant about the possibility of Durant returning to the Golden State Warriors. However, the discussions reportedly indicated that a reunion was unlikely.
The Warriors’ ownership and front office seemed to have underestimated Durant’s reservations about the idea, which created a significant roadblock.
Golden State and the Phoenix Suns engaged in serious trade negotiations regarding Durant, but talks fell apart when it became evident that Durant was not interested in being traded back to his former team.
Despite this impasse, Curry and Durant have maintained a strong relationship. The two were teammates on Team USA, where they played a key role in securing the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
With Durant off the table, the Warriors shifted their focus and completed a trade for Jimmy Butler on Wednesday, marking a new strategic direction for the franchise.
