Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner is progressing in his recovery from an oblique injury that has kept him sidelined since early December.
Wagner, who has been enjoying the best season of his career, provided an update after participating in a non-contact practice on Tuesday.
“Pretty much the muscle is not the issue at this point. It’s more of getting back in shape, making sure that I check all of the boxes before I go play a game,” Wagner shared with reporters, according to Jason Beede.
The 23-year-old has been a standout for the Magic this season, averaging a career-high 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 33.2 minutes per game. His absence has been felt by the team, but his recovery progress is encouraging.
Wagner’s focus now is on regaining full fitness, ensuring that he is physically prepared to return to the court without any setbacks. He is expected to be re-evaluated in the coming weeks as he works his way back into game shape.
The Magic (23-18) have remained competitive despite his absence, but the return of Wagner, who has been one of their key contributors, will be a significant boost for the team as they look to stay in playoff contention.
