Euroleague Basketball CEO Chus Bueno provided shareholders with an update on the competition’s strategic and business plans during the October 6 meeting in Italy.
Bueno reviewed the progress made under EuroLeague’s previously approved strategic roadmap and its 10-year business plan, while also presenting the main priorities currently being considered by the organization.
Two of the central issues were the transformation of the 13 shareholder clubs’ existing licenses into franchises and the possibility of increasing the number of franchises through offers received from other professional clubs.
Euroleague Basketball president Dejan Bodiroga also addressed the shareholders at the beginning of the meeting.
Bodiroga highlighted the work carried out by the clubs over previous decades and the resulting growth and increased interest surrounding European club basketball.
The owners subsequently agreed to advance both the franchise conversion process and the review of potential expansion candidates.
