Matt Ryan, a promising shooter, played 28 games for the New Orleans Pelicans last season, where he provided solid contributions.
He averaged 5.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and played 13.9 minutes per game, primarily serving as a role player off the bench.
What sets Ryan apart is his excellent shooting from beyond the arc, with a career three-point shooting percentage of 41.1 percent.
His ability to stretch the floor and knock down perimeter shots makes him an attractive target for a team like the Knicks, who could benefit from adding another shooter to their rotation.
Despite his productive performance as a three-point specialist, Ryan was waived by the Pelicans in early October, making him available on the free-agent market.
