Luka Doncic has faced criticism for his complaints directed at referees, especially after losing Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.
The Slovenian superstar fouled out at a crucial moment with four minutes left, adding to the controversy.
However, Doncic bounced back with a dominant performance in Game 4, scoring 25 of his 29 points in the first half and leading the Mavericks to a 38-point win, preventing a sweep.
His teammate Josh Green acknowledges that Doncic could channel his competitiveness differently than he did in Game 3.
Green emphasized that the team has Doncic’s back all the time, despite the criticism he faces.
“Obviously to the level of player he is, he’s going to get criticism no matter what he does, whether it’s a good game or bad game,” Green said on SiriusXM NBA Radio.
He continued, “It’s unfortunate circumstances for him, but at the end of the day, the team trusts him.”
Green stressed that Doncic is their leader and that everything he does comes from his desire to win.
“There are other ways that he can channel it, but overall we have his back a hundred times,” Green said.
Green added that it was impressive how Doncic bounced back in the next game.
“It sucks, but at the end of the day I think it says more about him how he came out the next game and bounced back that makes him such a good player and leader,” Green said
