Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has confirmed that he has held multiple conversations with NBA commissioner Adam Silver about the proposed NBA Europe competition.
Doncic, who is involved in the ownership of Italian basketball club BC Roma, discussed the project during an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix.
The Slovenian superstar indicated that Silver is enthusiastic about the possibility of expanding the NBA’s presence in European basketball.
“He’s very excited for it,” the player said of Silver. “I can’t tell you everything. But he’s excited.”
Doncic’s BC Roma is among the clubs seeking a place in Europe’s leading basketball competitions.
The organization recently submitted a binding offer for a permanent EuroLeague franchise, while the NBA continues developing its own European league.
The NBA has also been negotiating with EuroLeague about potential cooperation, although the two organizations have not reached an agreement.
