Panathinaikos forward Guerschon Yabusele has expressed support for the proposed NBA Europe project, believing it could create additional financial opportunities and increase the visibility of European basketball.

Speaking on Magenta TV’s “Pick n’ Roll” show, the French international discussed the potential benefits of the NBA expanding its presence in Europe.

Yabusele believes the NBA’s commercial strength and international audience could help attract greater investment into European basketball, benefiting not only players but also coaches and other team employees.

“Personally, I think it could be a good thing. The NBA is the biggest market in sports, so why not use that exposure to grow, especially for the players? If it means more money for players, coaches, assistants and medical staff, why not?”

The former NBA forward has experienced basketball on both sides of the Atlantic, giving him familiarity with the different structures and commercial environments of the two markets.

While welcoming the possibility of a new competition, Yabusele emphasized that cooperation between the NBA and EuroLeague would be the preferred outcome.

He also mentioned London as an example of a major European city that could benefit from increased basketball exposure.

“If it can bring that exposure to places like London, one of the best cities in Europe, that would be great. I hope it goes well, but I want the EuroLeague and the NBA to work together. That would be very good for basketball in Europe.”
