Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. is facing legal trouble in New York City after being arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, a WNBA player, per Aaron Katersky of ABC7 New York.

The 23-year-old Porter is currently in custody at the NYPD’s 17th precinct in Midtown Manhattan.

The incident unfolded on Monday when Porter returned to the Millennium Hotel in Times Square with his girlfriend after a night out. Sources indicate that the victim was upset with his late return and locked the door.

Despite the hotel security’s assistance, Porter is accused of assaulting the woman. The extent of her injuries is currently unclear, but domestic assault charges are pending against Porter.

Last season, Porter played a significant role for the Rockets, averaging 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 34.3 minutes per game. The arrest raises questions about his future with the team and his legal proceedings in the days ahead.
