Steve Nash spoke with reporters about the decision of the Brooklyn Nets to let Kyrie Irving re-join the team, despite being unvaccinated.

Irving’s intention to remain unvaccinated forced the Nets to leave him out of the rotation indefinitely back in October. A couple of months later, Brooklyn management and coach Nash took the decision to bring him back as a part-time player.

This means Kyrie Irving will play in road games (except Toronto) and will practice in Brooklyn. However, he will not be available for Nets games at Barclays Center.

Steve Nash shared his excitement for the return of Irving, admitting that injuries/Covid-19 outbreak forced the team to change its stance on the issue.

“I’m excited to have Kyrie back obviously. He’s an incredible player. No matter what capacity, we incorporate him in, it’s just a positive for our group.

Knowing that we first took the decision not to have him with us for continuity at the onset of the season and frankly continuity has been thrown out the window with COVID and injuries and whatnot.

So I think it’s important for us to use all the resources we have to navigate the season and we’re putting an extra strain on a lot of our guys,” Steve Nash told reporters, via Clutchpoints.com.

Brooklyn currently has 10 players in Health and Safety protocols, including Irving. This means the All-Star guard will need some time before making his debut with the team. The Nets are on top of the East at the moment, with a 21-9 record.
