Brooklyn Nets forward Josh Minott intends to sign a new two-year, $9 million contract to return to the franchise, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The agreement includes a team option for the second season, while the Nets declined Minott’s previous team option to create the path for a new deal.

Minott, 23, arrived in Brooklyn during the 2025-26 season after being traded by the Boston Celtics on February 5 in exchange for cash considerations. The move gave the former Minnesota Timberwolves forward a larger opportunity, and he produced his strongest NBA stretch after joining the Nets.

In 16 games with Brooklyn, Minott averaged 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks in 19.3 minutes per game. He shot 49.1% from the field, connected on 39.5% of his three-point attempts and posted a 62.1% effective field goal percentage.

Before the trade, Minott played 33 games for Boston and averaged 5.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 15.9 minutes per night. He shot 50.7% from the field and 44.2% from three-point range with the Celtics, continuing a season-long improvement as a shooter.

Across the full 2025-26 campaign, Minott averaged 7.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 steals in 49 games while shooting 50% from the field and 41.8% from deep. The production marked a major jump from his first three NBA seasons, when he averaged 4.1 points in 142 games with limited playing time.

The Nets entered the offseason after finishing 20-62, 13th in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn’s roster featured several young players receiving significant minutes, including rookie guard Egor Demin, forward Noah Clowney and Minott.

Brooklyn selected Mikel Brown Jr. with the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and also added Joshua Jefferson at No. 28 and Tyler Bilodeau at No. 43. With the franchise continuing a youth-focused roster build, retaining Minott gives the team another athletic forward option with developing shooting ability.
