Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks recently spoke with media members about rookie Mikel Brown Jr.’s talent level/growth/intelligence (selected sixth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft).

(via Brooklyn Nets):

“I think anytime you can add a level of talent like that… we’ve watched him coming up through his high school career, whether it’s at [Nike] Hoop Summit and the various different [games], McDonald’s [All American Game] and so forth, and Jordan Brand Classic games. And then you watch him at Louisville, and you see how his game continues to take different steps. Obviously, he grew a ton and [was] a relatively late bloomer. Going from 5’11 to 6’4 over the course of twelve months or so, that’s a big step.

“So it’s exciting to see where these guys go from when they’re 19, 20 years old, what do they look like at 22, 23, 24 and so forth? But the one thing that I think that stood out to me about him, is he’s a student of the game. He asks a lot of really intelligent questions. I think when we interviewed him at the combine in Chicago, he spent a lot of time interviewing us, which I love that. I love the interaction going back and forth, how he would fit in Brooklyn, how we see him and so forth. So, it was great banter going back and forth with him.”
