Sacramento Kings interim head coach Alvin Gentry has tested positive for COVID-19 and won’t coach against the Washington Wizards tonight, he told Adrian Wojnarowski.

Gentry, 67, who also told Wojnarowski that he’s largely asymptomatic except for a scratchy throat, will need two negative tests 24 hours apart to return to the bench.

The Kings canceled morning shootaround and the team is still testing to discover if there are more positive tests.

Assistants Mike Longabardi and Doug Christie are the most likely candidates to coach the team tonight, but there’s been no decision yet on an acting head coach, Wojnarowski adds.

Gentry took over as interim coach last month after the team parted ways with Luke Walton.

The Kings are currently 11-17 and have lost their last three games.
