Los Angeles Lakers saw Carmelo Anthony playing a big role in the latest win against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday. Melo has embraced his role coming off the bench, putting up 29 points in the Lakers’ latest outing.

ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins believes Anthony will win the Sixth Man of the Year award this season. Though Perkins’ comments might be slightly early, with a good chunk of the season left, the veteran forward is one of the few positives early in the season for the Lakers.

One of the best scoring players the NBA has ever seen, Carmelo Anthony is averaging 17.6 PPG coming off the bench. The ten-time All-Star is shooting 50.0% from the field and an impressive 52.0% from the 3-point line this season.

The Lakers used Melo’s timely baskets on Monday, including a go-ahead three in overtime vs. the Hornets. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis has carried the Lakers with James out and Westbrook being rusty. However, Carmelo is having a meaningful impact on the injury-riddled Lakers.
