Tyrese Haliburton suffers hamstring strain, Pacers await timeline

Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has sustained a left hamstring strain and will miss time, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday, October 28.

The Pacers and Haliburton are working to establish a clearer timeline for his return.

The injury is another setback for Haliburton, who missed the entire 2025-26 season because of an Achilles injury. He had returned to the court for Indiana’s opening four games this season, averaging 21.8 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 33 minutes per game.

Haliburton had been shooting 51.6% from the field and 37.0% from three-point range through those four appearances. He also averaged just 0.3 turnovers per game, while serving as the Pacers’ primary playmaker.

The timing is particularly difficult for Indiana because Haliburton is coming off a season lost to a ruptured right Achilles tendon suffered during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals. His return to the lineup this season had marked his first regular-season action since that injury.

The 26-year-old had established himself as Indiana’s offensive engine before missing the season. He averaged 20.7 points and 10.4 assists in 2022-23, then recorded 20.1 points and 10.9 assists per game in 2023-24, when he earned All-NBA Third Team honors. He was again named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2024-25, averaging 18.6 points and 9.2 assists.

Haliburton’s absence puts additional responsibility on Indiana’s other guards. Andrew Nembhard has averaged 16.0 points, 5.7 assists and 1.7 rebounds in three games while shooting 55.2% from the field and 45.5% from three-point range. Quenton Jackson has contributed 5.8 points and 2.5 assists in 19.3 minutes per game across four appearances.
