France stood tall vs Italy and advanced to the semi-finals of the Olympic Tournament.

Italy was in control in the first quarter (25-20), but France took over and earned a 14-lead (48-62), thanks to a 23-42 run.

The Italians turned things around, though, and tied the game behind an 18-4 run of their own (66-66).

However, France made some clutch shots in crunch time and sealed the deal to return to the semi-finals of the Olympics for the first time since 2000.

Rudy Gobert (22 points, nine rebounds) and Evan Fournier (21 points) combined for 43 points for the winners.

On the other hand, Simone Fontecchio had 23 points for the losing squad.

France will now face Slovenia in the first semifinal on Thursday.
