Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid discussed his decision to represent Team USA, noting the contrasting approaches of France and the U.S.
Embiid, who recently acquired American citizenship and is set to make his international debut, was close to choosing France before selecting the United States.
He revealed that France’s approach felt rushed, as they imposed a deadline on his decision.
“I kind of felt a rush in that decision because I wanted to take as much time as possible,” Embiid said.
The pressure from France made the decision process challenging for Embiid.
In contrast, the U.S. team provided him with ample time to decide.
“They said, just take as much time as you need. There’s no rush,” Embiid explained.
He emphasized that this supportive approach from Team USA influenced his final choice.
