The French Federation of Basketball has named Frédéric Fauthoux as the new head coach of the French national team. Fauthoux replaces Vincent Collet, who led the team for over a decade.

Fauthoux, 51, is a former player with 47 caps for the national team and a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2005.

He is currently the head coach of JL Bourg Basket, competing in Betclic Élite and EuroCup. His coaching staff will include Laurent Vila and Bryan George as assistants.

Joseph Gomis will be responsible for personal development, while Pascal Donnadieu will serve as a coaching consultant. Maxime Chiron will coordinate video analysis for the national team.

JL Bourg Basket has agreed to release Fauthoux for all international commitments with the French team.

Fauthoux will lead the team through several key competitions, including EuroBasket 2025 and the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

His appointment comes with high expectations, particularly with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in sight. France won silver in both Tokyo and Paris Olympics.

This change signals a new chapter for French basketball, as the team prepares for its upcoming challenges.

The next few months will be crucial as the team prepares for EuroBasket 2025 qualification.
