DeMar DeRozan is still interested in joining the Los Angeles Lakers and competing for the championship.
According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, DeRozan is willing to take a paycut in order to join the Lakers.
“With Russell Westbrook now headed to Los Angeles, multiple league personnel contacted by Bleacher Report expect there to be significant interest from several veterans, including DeMar DeRozan, Rudy Gay and Carmelo Anthony, to forgo higher salary opportunities elsewhere and join the Lakers in pursuit of a championship,” Fischer reports.
DeRozan, who is a free agent this offseason, earned $27.7M last season.
For their part, the Lakers can’t offer lucrative contracts after the trade of Russell Westbrook.
Therefore, DeRozan will need to have a significant paycut in order to join the Lakers.
