The Los Angeles Lakers could have been without their star LeBron James for a few playoff games as he violated the health and safety protocols by attending an event promoting his tequila brand.

Despite the violation, the NBA decided not to suspend the four-time NBA champion and he will suit up for the Lakers later today in Game 1 of the first round series against the Phoenix Suns.

Ahead of the game, Duane Rankin asked Suns head coach Monty Williams about LeBron’s violation. “I don’t have anything to say about it,” he said. “I think the league is in a situation with that. For us, we’re not focused on that.”

NBA legend Charles Barkley was critical of the NBA for not applying the same standards to James as they do to other players and not suspending him.
