Montrezl Harrell shocked some people by leaving the Clippers and signing with their cross-town rivals the Lakers this past offseason. The 27-year-old center adjusted to his new team and in absence of Anthony Davis he is taking a bigger load on his shoulders.

The Lakers star LeBron James was asked about what his expectations were for Harrell before he came to the team and whether he has met them.

“I felt that if it was a possibility how he could work on our team, he would give us instant energy and instant scoring off our bench. Obviously, our team last year we kind of struggled a lot with our bench scoring. I felt like he would make an immediate impact on our ball club.

“It’s been just that. The thing that he’s been working every single day on both sides of the floor and he’s continued to improve over these 35-plus games. It’s been great to see his growth.”

This season, Harrell, who is a reigning Sixth Man of the Year, is averaging 14.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game for the Lakers.
