The Los Angeles Lakers will have the shortest offseason among the teams in major sports leagues with just 71 days between the day they won the 2020 NBA Finals and the first game of the 2020-2021 season.

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel admits it is a challenge for his team to rest and get ready for the new season in such a short time, but hopes that his players will be able to do that. He stressed the importance of being ready for when the playoffs begin.

“The challenge of dealing with a short offseason is real. The biggest thing is have our guys the opportunity to let their bodies recover and recharge and get ready to work again,” Vogel said on Spectrum Sportsnet. “Because the recovery is every bit as important as the work. Hopefully, our guys have been able to to have the proper time.

“We’ll continue to manage throughout the season where everybody’s at with their bodies and making sure that we’re as fresh as possible throughout the year. But most importantly as fresh and as healthy as we can be going into the playoffs. That will be something that we will have to monitor and keep a close eye on early in the season.”
