Stephen Curry acknowledged that the Golden State Warriors’ championship era is approaching its conclusion, telling The Athletic that the team is “close to the end” while emphasizing the importance of making the most of the time remaining.
“You acknowledge that this will end at some point,” Curry said. “Of course, you have it in the back of your mind because you know that there aren’t that many years ahead.”
The 38-year-old guard said the uncertainty surrounding the team’s future has made the present more important. Curry emphasized that he and his teammates are focused on enjoying their time together and continuing to build, rather than dwelling on how their run will finish.
Draymond Green, meanwhile, said he is not preoccupied with the possibility that his time with the Warriors is nearing its end. The 36-year-old forward acknowledged the uncertainty but said he was not dwelling on it.
Head coach Steve Kerr shared a similar perspective, explaining that he has treated each of the past three seasons as potentially his last with this group. Kerr said he wants to appreciate every moment with the players and the accomplishments they have shared.
Curry and Green have spent 14 seasons together, developing an understanding that Green described as “telepathic.” Green said their on-court communication has evolved beyond the language shared by most teammates.
The Warriors began the 2026-27 season with three consecutive losses before beating the Denver Nuggets 134-114 on Oct. 26 and the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-114 on Oct. 28. They enter their next game with a 2-3 record.
Curry is averaging 28.8 points and 3.5 assists in four appearances, while Green is averaging 6.8 assists and 5.5 rebounds in four games. Their continued partnership remains central to Golden State as the franchise navigates the later stages of its championship era.
The Warriors will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, Oct. 30, at 10 p.m. ET.
