As they continue their push for that eighth Playoff spot in their second season in the league, Worthing Thunder prepare this weekend for Everton Tigers and Guildford Heat, and Assistant-Coach Alan Sweetman Hicks said that the Tigers are far from a one dimensional team that is reliant on one player: 'Everton is one of those teams that you just look at and can't focus on any one player in particular as there are threats everywhere you look.' He said: 'Last time out, we really struggled physically with Olu Babalola so we will be working on how to contain him collectively. |

Top eight teams in Europe have less than two weeks to prepare for the most important battles this season so far. There were only two play-off spots to be taken in the last game of the Top 16 with five teams having the chance to move to the next round. Serbian giants Partizan will be fighting for a place in the Final Four once again despite losing away at Barcelona. Panathinaikos won by three points against another Greek club Maroussi and this result opened the door for Partizan. |

Marshall MK Lions boss, Vince Macaulay (pictured), has challenged his side to put in a massive defensive performance when they face league leaders and BBL Trophy Finalists, Newcastle Eagles, tomorrow night: 'We will need to combat all the bodies that Newcastle have, as we are shorthanded at the moment' he said: 'It is important that we control the tempo of the game' he added: 'I feel we can execute well against them, as long as we have leave our poor defence behind us which has probably cost us this term.' |

Daniel Santiago and Pops Mensah-Bonsu are both on the list of potential additions to DKV Joventut. Puerto Rico international Daniel Santiago is currently a player of Efes Pilsen. Though Turkish club is looking for ways to offload a couple of players since their elimination from Euroleague's Top 16. Santiago spent several years of his career in Spain including spells with Barcelona and Unicaja. |

Turkish side Turk Telekom strengthened their squad for the most important battles of the season with the acquisition of a 30-year-old NBA veteran Ricky Davis. During his 12-year NBA career Davis played for six different teams - Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Minnesotta Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers. His best season was in 2002/2003 with the Cavs as he averaged 20.6 points and 5.5 assists per game. |

Alan Anderson of Maccabi Tel Aviv was named Euroleague's MVP for February 2010 after helping his side to record two victories in Top 16. 27-year-old American forward was a key part of Maccabi's offence with 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4 assists per game last month. Anderson finished the game with a ranking higher than 30 twice in February - once against Real Madrid (40) and once against Efes Pilsen (35). |

Newcastle Eagles gained the advantage in the first leg of the BBL Trophy Semi Final, over arch rivals Everton Tigers, as they just about held on to an 89-85 win, thanks to a tremendous fourth quarter. Everton had led by nine points midway through the final period but a 24-11 burst from the Eagles to finish the game, capped off by Charles Smith (pictured) hitting a three pointer, ensured that the Eagles go into the second leg next Friday in Merseyside with a slight advantage. |

Ukrainian league leaders Budivelnik Kiev announced the signing of a 34-year-old veteran forward-center Maceo Baston. The holder of two Euroleague titles with Maccabi Tel Aviv has been a free agent since being waived by Detroit Pistons on October 21. In 2008/2009 season Baston played 27 games with Indiana Pacers averaging 2.5 points per game. |

Player-coach of the BBL Cup winning Sheffield Sharks, Atiba Lyons, says that his team must be ready for the physicality of Marshall MK Lions, whom they face tonight in a crucial BBL Championship match up at the EIS, Sheffield. He said: This Thursday against Milton Keynes, we need to be more focused and not veer from the game plan. They are a physical team that will try and knock you out of your rhythm. We have to be patient, set screens and run a good offense. Defensively, they are a good transition team and EJ Harrison is in a good rhythm at the moment. |

The BBL Championship s second and third placed sides both had mixed fortunes last weekend, as Newcastle Eagles kept up their assault on the title with two wins, whilst Marshall MK Lions experienced the opposite. The Eagles came good firstly against Worcester Wolves, with a 77-82 result in their favour, and then beat the Lions 87-101, whilst the Milton Keynes based club were unable to replicate their 97- 90 victory over the Wolves last Tuesday, as they also went down 82-122 to Everton Tigers last weekend. |
