Paul Pierce is not optimistic about the Los Angeles Lakers and the outcome of their series against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The NBA and Boston Celtics legend believes the Blazers have all the tools to eliminate the Lakers, which would be a historic failure for the top team in the West.

“This is not your normal eighth seed, where the one seed just sweeps by them in four or five games. No — this team is going to put up a fight.

I’m concerned about the Lakers, they may go down in history as the third team to lose to an eighth seed in the first round because this is the best eighth seed that the NBA has ever seen, in NBA history,” Pierce said during his appearance on ESPN’s The Jump.

The Blazers defeated the Lakers in Game 1 (100-93) and lead the series (1-0). Game 2 will take place on Thursday.
