This layoff is the longest hiatus that most NBA players have had from basketball their whole lives. Bam Adebayo is looking for a $100 million extension during the offseason and going to Orlando is a big risk of injury.
According to NBA.com, Adebayo said:
“We want to play and give our teams the best chance of winning a championship. But at the end of the day we’re also thinking about our families and our lives and how they could change if we get hurt.”
A big pay day is a great reason to sit the rest of the season. You have to take care of yourself first because professional sports is a business. The Miami Heat have a real chance to make it to the Finals if they are able to excel so it will be interesting to see if Adebayo plays.
