Kyrie Irving has interest in playing for the Miami Heat, according to Ethan J. Skolnick, who discussed the possibility on the Five On The Floor: Miami Heat/NBA podcast.
However, Skolnick does not expect an immediate move, saying Miami plans to evaluate its current roster before deciding whether to pursue the veteran guard.
“I think we’ve both heard he’s interested in playing down in Miami,” Skolnick said, adding that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra holds Irving in high regard. He also described Miami as a place where Irving would feel comfortable.
Skolnick indicated that the Heat intend to give Pelle Larsson an opportunity to establish himself before making a decision. Larsson is averaging 10.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 30.6 minutes through five games this season.
Irving, 34, is playing for the Dallas Mavericks after missing the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from an ACL injury. He has averaged 18.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in four appearances this season, shooting 49.1% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range.
Miami already has Davion Mitchell handling point guard duties. He is averaging 16.4 points and 7.6 assists through five games, while Larsson has started the season in a reserve role.
