One of the nation’s top high school players Daishen Nix has decommitted from UCLA and will become the third high school prospect to turn pro.

Nix, a potential lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, will get a G League deal reportedly in the $300,000 range, according to Shams Charania.

“I’ve always known that going to the G League was an option, but learning more about it and hearing more things about it is why I chose it,” Nix told Evan Daniels of 247Sports. “It was the best option for me.”

Nix was ranked 15th (No. 1 point guard) in the 247Sports composite rankings and 20th (No. 6 point guard) in the ESPN100.

Unlike previous G League commits Jalen Green and Isaiah Todd, Nix had already committed to college before ultimately changing course.

“I think it was the right thing for me because it was a family thing and a myself thing,” Nix told the Los Angeles Times. “Playing in G League is basically getting me ready for the NBA draft. It’s just one step below the NBA.”
