Here’s New Orleans Pelicans forward Jalen McDaniels discussing playing in the G League last season with the Capital City Go-Go (currently on an Exhibit 10 contract).

(via The WeakLEE Podcast):

“Honestly bro, I feel like I needed it. You feel me? I feel like (I) kinda just needed to come back down to earth, you know? I was in Toronto — I didn’t really have a good year, whatever. But I feel like I damn near was getting like kinda complacent. Like I felt like I had made it a little bit, you feel me? It’s year five for me. Kinda feel like a vet. I hooped in (the) playoffs. I’m kinda like feeling myself a little bit, you know? But then I got to Toronto, it was up and down. Then after that went to Sac, and then I got waived.

“And so, I’m back in the G. So it’s like, ‘S***.’ It just made me get that dog mentality back, like why I love the game. You feel me? So, I played with the Go-Go. Teammates I had was cool. The G League is just down to earth people, you feel me? You’re not getting paid that much. Everybody is just themselves, you feel me? This NBA stuff, you can get caught up in the money, this that, people driving this car. You feel me? When I got there, it just brought me back down to earth. Like, ‘Damn, this is where you was and this is how you made your name.’ You feel me?”
