LA Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard admitted he was not initially planning to win the first-ever Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP award.

Leonard, who eventually won the award, said that, as the game progressed, he found the motivation to try and chase for the honor.

“I didn’t come into the game saying I wanted to take the trophy home. I came in and made my first two shots, kept shooting, made more shots and that’s when I told myself I was going to try to get it,” he told reporters, per Ben Golliver of the Washington Post.

Leonard posted a game-high 30-points (11/18 shooting), 8/14 from the three-point range), along with seven rebounds and four assists, as Team LeBron defeated Team Giannis.
