Turonn Lue plans to use Kawhi Leonard’s ability to the fullest this season putting the two-time Finals MVP in triangle sets.

Lue, who worked as a player under Phil Jackson, who used triangle sets for Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan taking of their ability to score from mid-range.

“We have put in two or three sets from the triangle and let Kawhi play in those spaces where Kobe and Jordan played in those spots as well,” said Lue.

“He loves those two players. He really respects and looks up to those guys, so we’re just trying to put him in positions [to succeed]. I was able to play with both those guys, but I also played in the triangle, so just trying to teach him that as well as teaching our team as well.”

The LA Clippers went on to lose all three games in the preseason, as they adjusted to Lue’s plan. Tyronn Lue replaced Doc Rivers as the head coach, after the end of the 2019/2020 season.

The Clippers are set to play their first regular season vs. the Lakers at December 22.
