John Wall is not expected to play for the Washington Wizards this season, according to the team’s General Manager Tommy Shepard.

“I think we have maintained that all along. We didn’t plan on seeing him this year. I think that’s fair to John, to manage the expectations for him.

He’s on his way, but he’s not there and he’s not close yet. He’s a lot closer than he was a year ago when the injury happened,” Sheppard said, via NBC Sports Washington.

The former No. 1 overall pick played in 32 games in the 2018-19 season, before undergoing his season-ending heel surgery. Wall then fell at his house and tore his Achilles tendon.
