Great Britain and Spain will be the United States of America’s pre-Olympic European opponents as the schedule was released today.

Great Britain’s women’s team will also face the USA (July 18th) the night before the men’s game (19th), with both games to be played at Manchester’s MEN Arena.

“As a team, we are always looking to play the best teams in the world so to be up against the number one side is very exciting,” Great Britain captain Andrew Sullivan said.

“It will be a huge task with the strong roster they announced earlier this year but for us to be competing at this level will only help us in the long run.”

The USA will then travel to Barcelona to face Spain on July 24th. The Spanish have a large number of NBA players on their roster such as Pau Gasol, Marc Gasol, Serge Ibaka, Ricky Rubio and Jose Calderon.

USA will also face Dominican Republic (Las Vegas, 12th July), Brazil (Washington DC, 16th) and Argentina (Barcelona 22nd) with the women, as well as facing-off with the Brits, will also play Brazil (Washington DC, 16th).

“This tour will be a very challenging schedule of five exhibition games that will each be played in outstanding enviroments and will be memorable for all basketball fans,” USA and Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said.

USA are an incredible 37-1 in pre-Olympic warm-up games since 1992 when the original Dream Team won gold in Barcelona.
