The Memphis Grizzlies have announced that rookie guard Richie Saunders will begin his professional career with their G League affiliate, the Memphis Hustle, as he continues recovering from a serious knee injury.
Saunders, selected with the 32nd overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, has been sidelined since February 15 after suffering a torn right ACL while playing college basketball at BYU.
The 6-foot-5 guard is still working toward a return to competitive action, with expectations that he could be available during the latter stages of the 2026-27 season.
Memphis has decided to place Saunders with the Hustle, where he can continue his rehabilitation and eventually work toward returning to the court.
Before suffering the injury, Saunders was enjoying an impressive senior season at BYU, averaging 18 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
