FIBA Secretary General, Andreas Zagklis, stated it is unlikely the format of the 2023 Basketball World Cup will change.
“The expansion to 32 teams in the World Cup is not simple but now we know that more than 24 teams are ready to play at this level. Now, we are planning to maintain this format also for 2023.
It’s true, there have been games with a high point difference but we have seen 92 matches with many surprises,” Zagklis said, per Sportando.
