The Dallas Mavericks veteran Dirk Nowitzki scored eight points (3/6 FG), grabbed one board and handed out two assists in the Mavs’ 125-129 home loss in overtime over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night at American Airlines Center.
Nowitzki hit a fadeaway jumper with 8:33 min left in the first quarter and passed Wilt Chamberlain for 6th on NBA’s All-Time Scoring List.
“I took my time and faced him up like I’ve done a million times and tried to shoot over him. It was good to get it over with in the first two shots,” Nowitzki said, per ESPN.
