Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic has defended his previous comments about fans booing their own team, saying he has no intention of changing his opinion.
The Serbian center recently criticized Denver supporters who booed the Nuggets during home games.
Following Monday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors, Jokic was asked whether he still stood by those remarks.
“I just said what I said. I’m sticking to what I said. I played in a much worse environment,” he stated.
“I played in front of 10 people, 50 people, 100 people, 150,000 people, whatever. I didn’t play 150,000, like 10,000, 15,000. So, I’m not used to fans booing their own team.”
Jokic has played in different environments throughout his career, including professional basketball in Europe before joining the NBA.
Despite his experience with demanding crowds, the three-time MVP said he does not understand why supporters would boo their own players.
When asked whether European fans also direct criticism toward their teams during games, Jokic questioned the loyalty of those who do.
“Probably they are, but I think they’re not the real fans,” he added.
The Nuggets have struggled to begin the 2026-27 season, opening with a 1-2 record following their defeat against Golden State.
