In their first crucial match in the 2018/19 EuroLeague, Panathinaikos stood tall and beat Buducnost in Podgorica (67-72).
DeShaun Thomas and Ioannis Papapetrou had 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the winners, while Nick Calathes once again came very close to the double-double (10 points, nine assists).
On the other hand, Alen Omic posted 16 points and 10 rebounds for the losing squad, with Nikola Ivanovic contributing 12, on 4/7 shooting.
It was a close game from the opening tip, as no team could take a significant advantage (15-18, 31-31, 46-50). In the fourth quarter, both teams fought tooth and nail for the victory, yet the “Greens” were solid and claimed the win (67-72).
Panathinaikos earned their third victory in five games (3-2), whereas Buducnost remained the only winless squad in the competition (0-5).
