Khimki head coach, Giorgos Bartzokas, had an interview with novasports.gr and referred to Tyler Honeycutt’s suicide in July.

Here is what the Greek coach said:

On Honeycutt’s suicide: “When it happened, I couldn’t speak for three days. It was devastating news. I didn’t expect this to happen. We never understood he had a problem. He was a great guy, very talented, he had an excellent behaviour.

We are still sad and disappointed, because we could have helped him. But, we didn’t understand he had issues. This is a tragedy. This is devastating.”

On whether the team wanted to renew the player’s contract: “Of course. We had offered him a new contract and it was the best offer he had. He was coming from California, it was difficult for him to adapt to life in Moscow, which is very different. What happened was a tragedy.”
