Barcelona have announced that Hungarian forward Adam Hanga will be out of action for up to six weeks with a meniscus injury.

Hanga, currently averaging 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2 assists per game suffered the injury during the team’s loss to Zalgiris on Thursday.

The reigning EuroLeague Defensive Player of the Year will miss at least ten matches, including el’Clasico against Real Madrid plus the EuroLeague games against Crvena Zvezda, Olympiacos, Unicaja Malaga, Baskonia and Anadolu Efes.

Barcelona might choose to sit Hanga out for the remainder of the EuroLeague season and instead keep him for Liga Endesa games.

The Catalan giants are close to being mathematically eliminated from the EuroLeague playoff race, sitting with league’s second-worst record, 7-17, having lost seven of its last eight games.
