Jaylen Brown surprises Daniel Radcliffe with Slytherin allegiance

Jaylen Brown revealed that he identifies with Slytherin from the Harry Potter series, surprising actor Daniel Radcliffe with his choice and explaining why he believes the Hogwarts house is unfairly associated with evil.

During their conversation, Brown asked Radcliffe, who portrayed Harry Potter in the film franchise, to determine which Hogwarts house best suited him and his teammates.

Brown: “I want Daniel to place all of my teammates into a house. Or just place me ‘cause this is the burning question that I’ve been dying to… I know what I identify with.”

Radcliffe initially suggested that Brown belonged in either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, but the forward immediately rejected both options.

Radcliffe: “I’m going to say it’s Gryffindor or Ravenclaw.”

Brown: “Fuck off. I’m Slytherin, bro.”

Radcliffe appeared surprised by Brown’s preference and questioned why so many Harry Potter fans identify with Slytherin, a house closely associated with several villains in the series.

Radcliffe: “Seriously, I don’t get this. Why does everybody want to be Slytherin? I don’t understand. Sometimes I’ll see little kids and they’re like, ‘Voldemort’s my favorite character.’ I’m like, ‘You missed the point of the movie.’”

Brown responded by explaining that he does not believe Slytherin deserves its negative reputation.

While acknowledging that Voldemort is clearly portrayed as the villain, he argued that belonging to Slytherin does not automatically make someone evil.

The ex-NBA champion also discussed his broader perspective on darkness, arguing that people often associate it with negativity despite its importance in nature and everyday life.

Brown: “In the film, there’s definitely a protagonist and antagonist. No question. Voldemort is the bad guy. Harry Potter is the good guy. But Slytherin, they get shots that’s not deserving. Everybody in Slytherin is not evil. And I’ve kind of developed that relationship with like darkness. A lot of people associate darkness with negativity. But darkness is essential. You got to plant a seed deep in the soil for it to grow. Or the human body needs to sleep to for your brain and your body to function properly. When the sun goes down is when you see the stars. Darkness is essential to growth, essential to life. It’s not necessarily bad.”
