Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas believes Stephen Curry will finish his career with the Golden State Warriors rather than leave the franchise to pursue another championship elsewhere.
Arenas argued that Curry’s loyalty to Golden State has become a defining part of his legacy and that joining another team could damage the reputation he has built throughout his NBA career.
According to Arenas, Curry’s popularity comes not only from his individual accomplishments and championships but also from the fact that he has remained with the organization that drafted him in 2009.
“Because that’s going to be the end of his legacy. Because if he goes and gets traded anywhere to team up and win a championship that championship don’t count. They love him because he’s staying home.
“That’s why they love him because he did it, he got drafted by the team they worked, they won he stayed, they broke up the team a little bit, he won again which puts him in the same lovable category as Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki if he goes and leaves him chasing Magic Johnson will stop and they’re going to to put a tank around his legacy.”
