Shane Larkin expects his responsibilities to change after joining Fenerbahce following eight seasons as one of Anadolu Efes’ primary offensive options.
The two-time EuroLeague champion regularly played around 30 minutes per game with Efes, but Sarunas Jasikevicius has already explained that Fenerbahce will take a different approach.
“Pretty much just buy into the system, buy into being a part of the team,” Larkin said. “In my time with Efes, I was one of the star players and playing around 30 minutes a night every night for the last eight years. And coming here, he explained to me that that’s not how he operates.
“He uses quicker rotations and doesn’t play guys for 30 minutes. He doesn’t depend on one guy to go out there and score a lot of baskets. And pretty much he just came and asked me to be a part of the team, use my experience, be vocal, be a leader, and try to help the guys win games. That’s all it’s about.”
Larkin, a career 14.8-point-per-game scorer in the EuroLeague, will now look to combine his offensive ability with the leadership and experience Jasikevicius expects from him.
