Fenerbahce has completed one of the biggest moves of the EuroLeague offseason, announcing the signing of veteran point guard Shane Larkin to two-year contract on Monday after his departure from city rival Anadolu Efes.
Larkin arrives with one of the most decorated résumés in modern EuroLeague history, including two EuroLeague championships, a EuroLeague scoring title, three Turkish Super League titles and a place on the EuroLeague 25th Anniversary Team. The move gives Fenerbahce an experienced playmaker as the club reshapes its roster following another Final Four appearance.
The 33-year-old spent eight seasons with Anadolu Efes, becoming the face of the franchise during its most successful era. He helped Efes win back-to-back EuroLeague titles in 2021 and 2022, earned All-EuroLeague First Team honors in 2022 and was named to the Second Team in 2021.
His 2019-20 campaign remains one of the finest offensive seasons in EuroLeague history, as he averaged a league-leading 22.2 points while shooting 53.0% from the field, 50.9% from three-point range and 90.3% from the free-throw line to join the EuroLeague’s exclusive 50-40-90 club.
Although injuries limited his availability in recent seasons, Larkin remained highly productive whenever he was on the floor. During the 2025-26 EuroLeague campaign, he averaged 15.3 points, 4.2 assists and shot 43.1% from beyond the arc across 12 appearances. He also produced 12.6 points and 5.6 assists in seven Turkish Super League games before leaving Efes.
Fenerbahce finished the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season with a 24-14 record, tying for third place before reaching the Final Four. The club eliminated Zalgiris 3-1 in the quarterfinals but fell 79-61 to eventual champion Olympiacos in the semifinal.
The signing strengthens a backcourt that already featured Wade Baldwin, who averaged 14.0 points and a team-high 5.5 assists in EuroLeague play last season, and Talen Horton-Tucker, who led Fenerbahce in scoring with 15.7 points per game. Larkin’s ability to create offense, stretch defenses and perform in high-pressure situations adds another proven weapon to a team aiming to return to the EuroLeague final.
Fenerbahce has been one of the busiest clubs of the offseason. The Turkish champion has already signed Trent Forrest, Shavon Shields and Braxton Key while parting ways with veterans including Nando De Colo, Devon Hall, Bonzie Colson, Khem Birch, Arturs Zagars, Brandon Boston Jr., Tarik Biberovic and Mikael Jantunen.
Larkin also brings extensive NBA experience, having appeared in 256 games with the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics before returning to Europe in 2018. Across four NBA seasons, he averaged 5.5 points and 2.9 assists.
The move also marks a rare switch between Istanbul’s biggest rivals. After spending nearly a decade leading Anadolu Efes to domestic and continental success, Larkin will now attempt to help Fenerbahce capture its third EuroLeague title.
