Pelicans sign Christian Shumate

The New Orleans Pelicans are adding Christian Shumate to their roster ahead of training camp, giving the forward an opportunity to compete with the team during the preseason.

Shumate has agreed to a training camp contract with New Orleans. Once the preseason concludes, he is expected to continue his development with the Laketown Squadron, the Pelicans’ G League affiliate.

The 6-foot-6 forward already has experience with the Squadron after appearing in 40 games for the team last season.

Shumate averaged 11.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 51.6% from the field.
