The Mavericks and Clippers have explored the possibility of a blockbuster trade that would bring Kawhi Leonard to Dallas in exchange for a package centered on Klay Thompson.

According to The Athletic, the proposed framework would also include forward P.J. Washington and additional draft assets heading to Los Angeles as compensation for the seven-time All-Star.

Dallas continues to evaluate aggressive roster upgrades as it looks to maximize its championship window, and Leonard has emerged as one of the franchise’s primary trade targets this offseason.

Although talks have taken place between the two organizations, negotiations remain in the exploratory stages, with no agreement currently in place.
