EuroLeague Head Coaches Board executive director Goran Sasic believes the NBA and EuroLeague represent significantly different approaches to professional basketball.
Speaking to Nova TV during his visit to Athens, Sasic discussed the differences between the two competitions as talks about potential cooperation continue.
According to Sasic, the NBA places greater emphasis on entertainment and commercial interests, while EuroLeague basketball is more closely connected to the traditions of its clubs and their supporters.
“For me, the NBA is another type of basketball with another type of emphasis. There, it’s a lot about entertainment, and here it’s about devotion.
“The slogan of the EuroLeague used to be, for many decades, devotion, and there it’s about asset management; it’s much more business-oriented.
“Here it’s about the attachment the fans have to their clubs. So, it’s totally different worlds. So again, this is for the EuroLeague owners to decide which avenue they want to go.”
Sasic said the NBA and EuroLeague have different approaches to basketball, which could complicate negotiations between the two organizations.
